I just ran across this. What do you think of this oil at Blain's in WI? Who is this for?
Are there really that many Cat machines out there for this to sell well?
Or do you think it's more for people that would put this in a pickup or small tractors?
$24.99 on shelf and online.

People are are not broke might find interest in this post

The issue here is not necessarily anyone's financial wherewithal.
The point is that the vast majority of people who want CAT branded fluids are probably going to a CAT dealer, where they can probably buy them for at least the same, if not possibly less money.
This is a marketing issue.
The vast majority of people who are going to go in a farm store to buy fluids are going to look at a Shell/Mobil/Citgo/Mystic/store brand product that is generally on sale, that may be used as a loss leader, that probably totes a mail in rebate with it that meets their needs and the specifications of their equipment.
So odds are that it will not be a huge seller, and thus will be discounted.
That, more than likely, will be when it generates interest.

Yeah your right i was just being a butt head. I feel like this is more for the bros who run cat filters on the cummins/powerstrokes. Now they can buy delvac 1 in a cat jug and get all giddy lol

In general, keep in mind that OEM's (CAT, Deere, Ford etc.) don't make oil so it is marketing. Best case they provide the specifications to the manufacturer (Exxon, Mobil, Chevron etc) to belnd the product to their specs.

OEM's also don't make filters either, same process as the oil.

I love CAT equipment but it seems corporately they are bent on watering down their brand until there is nothing left.

Equipment dealers know that they're competing with the part houses/big box stores on common stuff. A few weeks ago, the fuel filter on my 3406-A decided to plug up, and was able to limp into a CAT dealer. Their "branded" filter was way cheaper than the NAPA cross.

Without analysis how does anyone know if it’s the same as Mobil Super. I assure you that the John Deere branded oil is not the same oil that you can get from any of the major refiners/packagers. Most in this thread sound like women at a beauty shop gossiping.

JD oil at least in the Midwest is blended by some company in Iowa. A driver I was talking to years ago while he was delivering bulk oil said he would go on a road trips there with a tanker to pick up oil for the bulk truck.
