It has been few months and few thousand miles since one of the post cat sensor was changed. I am not complaining loudly as I got my sticker with one incomplete but I really would like to know as to what is preventing it from completing. I have live data but do not see anything obvious there.

Something is preventing the car ECU from running the cat convertor test. Any idea what that could be? There are no stored or pending codes.

+1 on the temp but it's been so hot up here a stuck open thermostat would still get plenty hot.

Most vehicles rely on a 'mixed' driving scenario before the cat monitor completes. That's going to be city and highway on the same run. It can take close to a couple of hundred miles for this monitor to set.

Few thousand miles have been already completed on it. It was incomplete about three months ago too and I don't think it has completed since either. As far as I can remember, the coolant temperature reading was fine and it was in the closed loop. Also he is getting close to 30 mpg on highway. The coolant temperature was the first thing that I checked with the live data. One more year of emission and then this car will be free of managing the emission sticker :-)

I am suspecting this is happening since the clutch and transmission was replaced back in November 2012. I am wondering if the mechanic has forgot to plug in something but I can't think of what it could be. I wonder if ScannerDanner answers this type of question.

You need to perform certain OBDII drive cycles that are very specific.

If all the stars don't align for an emissions test to run, it won't run.

I deleted a misfire code from a bad tank of Spring gas, and it took 3 months for all the emissions tests to complete.

If you have access to an extremely deep level scanner I think you can "force" the tests to run.

Otherwise it is just patience.

And, if something wasn't plugged back in, you'd have a code most likely.
