Is it all the same? Copper is copper in the electrical world. I’d like to use what the telecom guys at work use, but it’s $350 for 1000’. I’m not one to complain about money, but between that and some 10-2 for a mini split as well as 12-2 for 120v receptacles, I’m looking at about $1000 for wire alone on this project.

I have to gut an area of the house and plan on running cat6 for the pc so it’ll be buried in the studs and no longer accessible. Id love to run conduit, but it’s really not ideal.

Cat6 is a specification. All Cat6 cable should theoretically be functionally the same and capable of transmitting 10G data speeds for 55 meters. If you want to get the bestest, Cat6a has extra shielding for more protection from interference and can run the same data rates for 100 meters.

So, all that to say, like oil, Cat6 is Cat6.

The only thing I'd really make sure of is that it is solid copper and not CCA (copper clad aluminum) cabling.

Also check on eBay for spools of 1000' or 500' that someone used 70' of and theres a bunch left. Have bought very nice cable from un-finished spools many times.
I just now found a place called discount cable that (I think) does just that.
