Cat Is urinating outside of catbox.

My male cat has taken up peeing in the house by a wall. He has a clean litter box that he poops in.
I am frustrated as to what to do except getting rid of my pet, whom I like very much.
Any cat owners who have solved this problem and solved it humanely?

Take him to a vet. He may have a urinary infection.

We had this happen when our female cat had a UTI. Get kitty to the vet quickly.

The last time I tried to get him to a vet he almost put me into the emergency room.

Not sure if perhaps a service like this is near you... but here in Western New York/Buffalo Area, there's a traveling mobile vet service called Fetch The Vet. They're great.

They come to the house with a Ford E-chassis van/motorhome thats setup as a mobile vet office. Maybe there's a service like this near you that could be of assistance?

If it’s not medical, try a second litter box. He might not like the current location.

Try cleaning the area with white or apple cider vinegar, it removes the territorial scent.

If he poops in the box, but won't pee he has an issue - its not the box, and its not the cat. UTI, or could be kidney issue or whatever. To the vet - waiting only makes it worse.

Male cat - Sounds like UTI. Vet time. He is associating the litterbox with pain.

Wife, the cat person of the house agrees about the UTI but also suggested an intrusion into the cats area by another animal nearby. Most likely another TomCat outside or something akin to that. Good Luck!

And it’s not a uti… She has a form of cat dementia. She’s been having issues walking for awhile now.

And she wakes up at times and you can tell she doesn’t know where she is.

Stress due to a urinary problem woul make the cat associate the litterbox with pain and that's why the cat will go elsewhere. Or the cat may be upset over something else.

Yeah we have one of those too. Princess. 18+ years old, had a stroke 6 months ago. Lost use of her hind legs. Wife hand fed her and hauled her to the litter box for a week. I told her to go to the vet and put her down. She goes to the vet and vet says the cat is actually really healthy for her age and the stroke damage may mitigate. Wife hauls cat home. Cat eats and poops in the litterbox by herself now. She can't bend her back legs and it is comical to watch her walk. Wife built a set of stairs up to our bed for her. She sleeps next to her head. She is also pretty deaf. I imagine she will have another stroke, worse next time and I will haul her to the vet to put her down. I can only stand so much crying. I dug a grave for her in the frozen ground a while back anticipating her demise, big hole as cat is big. Hole still empty....time will tell.

We just finished fighting over a 3-yr ordeal with one of our males. He was diagnosed with FLUD. This is stress related which drove us crazy because we could not locate the stressor. Another thing is that stress can cause cats hold their urine which can cause them to develop UTI's which causes more pain off you go with this weird feedback loop.

Anyways, in a last ditch effort we changed the litter in the house from crystal to clay and bought a bigger box. Problem fixed. It was infuriating because being that he would go through periods of using his littler box we assumed it was not the problem.

We had a female cat that loved to pee on my stereo speakers among other things. No UTI, she was just a pain. How she did that, I'll never know, but she did. The speakers reeked, and went into the trash. The cat went to a no kill shelter.
