I thought someone (maybe Dr T) had posted a VOA of this oil, but I couldn't find it.

Considering 240 Autocross runs and spirited driving I'd say this is an excellent report. To be picky, I wish it had held a higher flashpoint and stayed in grade, but given the demands placed upon this oil, that probably IS JUST BEING PICKY.

I don't recall him posting one, he's never done a VOA or UOA yet.

More and more we're seeing some good numbers from thicker oils, it sure makes you stop and think.

Go tell that to Buster, Pat....he'll flip.
Oh heavens, I hope he doesn't read this.

Anyway, I agree with you Pat....my next OCI will be either 50/50 10W30/15W50 or all 15W50 M1 depending on the weather. We are already getting some cold fronts here in SA, TX.

No, I"m not going to flip. Great report. Hey, if I turn out to be wrong, thats fine. I'd like to get to the bottom of this debate anyway. Plus it will help me determine whether or not I should use a heavier oil..

You're right I've never posted a UOA or VOA...but promise to once I clean the crap out of my engine (from the BMW 5-30) ie. the next interval.

And yes, you could safely use it in you standard 330...as the Australian website says "safe to use in all engines"...

Here is a formula Buster;
Thicker for summer and extreme driving....thinner for winter.
Speaking of extreme driving, I would not be surprised if Ford's plan of using 5W-20, even on their heavy duty trucks backfires one day.....There is no way I would put anything thinner than 5w30 unless it's extreme winter.

No hard feelings Buster......I come here seeking for the best product for my vehicles...not to pick a fight.

It's all good. I'm not fond of 20wts either, only Redline's and Mobil's bc they contain a strong base oil with a good amount of EP/AW additives. A dino 20wt? NO thanks.

Let me be clear too, I"m not against thicker oils. I'm just not convinced you need one for every engine/car out there.

It lists for $8.95, BMW P/N 07 51 0 009 40.
I've heard that some dealerships are charging even $12 for it so beware. It's still cheaper than in Europe where it costs around $16 Euro/liter

It averages around $9.00 per quart, though I have heard of some dealers charging as much as $15.00.

Hmmm...maybe I should try this is my Chrysler.
