New MAzda 3...PS says to use Dex III or better. Would semi synthetic Castrol MV ATF work ok? Says it meets all specs including Dex III, so I am assuming yes?

Thanks!

Castrol MV is not a semi-syn. It is only rated for Mercon/Dex3. Note that it is not rated for Mercon V or better. Data Sheet

It will work fine in your car, but it is a basic fluid. I have used it in my Ranger PS during an ARX run and it did fine. Using Amsoil ATF currently.

Castrol has three multivehicle ATFs. The older and identical Import-ATF are synthetic blends and would work great in your Mazda 3.
The Domestic-Multivehicle is simply the normal merc/dexiii equivalent and will also work. But, its not an upgrade.
Also, another option is the Castrol Mercon-V which would also be an upgrade to the domestic-merc/dexiii fluid.

DexronVI, even though a little thinner, should have no problem in PSF systems that require any Dexron or Mercon. But, there might be a change in 'feel' when playing with PS fluid weights. In place of DexVI, any of the full synthetic versions of DexronIII/Mercon should also be considered.

Only reason I said it is semi-syn is because the bottle states that...I'll check again, but I am pretty sure. Thanks for the feedback.
