getting ready to do the full service on my wifes Lexus rx-330. Is castrol Import muti-Vehicle ATF ok to use. It says it is OK to use where Toyota T-IV is needed, which is what this requires. However, in the owners manual it states anything other than genuine toyota T-IV fluid might cause problems. are they just wanting you to buy there fluid or am I ok to use the castrol?

Castrol multi ATF for imports is indeed certified for use with Toyota vehicles using T-IV, or Aisin-Warner JWS-3309.

This is something I'm currently using in my wifey's 04 camry so use it with confidence.

Hey Lexus114, Just curious if you have any insight or tips.

I am getting ready to do all the fluids on a 2004 rx330.

Should I drop the transmission pan and change the filter too or just drain and refill.

Do I need new washers for the drain plugs (diff, t case and transmission) can I reuse?

Do I need to add LS additive to the differential?

and finally, is the fill for the front differential through the transmission dipstick?

Thanks!

Ok,here goes (remember just my opinion)

1)I would drop the pan, clean the strainer,or replace if it has a paper filter.

2)You can re-use the washer, but get a new one from a Toyota dealer so you have a good one on hand.

3)No additive necessary.

3)Yes,it fills both the trans, and diff. Transfer case is seperate.

Oh,and if AWD change the transfer case and rear diff.oil over to Synthetic. You will be glad you did.

The price difference between OEM T-IV ($4.99/Q) and Castrol Import MV ATF ($3.99/Q) is a dollar. I would stick with OEM fluid since the price difference is insignificant.

good point, going forward i will do that but i found the castrol on clearance for $2 qt
