Hi All,

I am considering a 10w40 oil and want to know which of these two would be better? I hear good things about both and want to get a little more info before deciding. Thank you.

Advance Auto online store has the Durablend 5w30 for .95 per qt. Free shipping if order over $50. Sounds like a steal if it really works. Beats FAR for me.

Well, I presumed Valvoline would be the choice and the reason I didn't compare the Castrol Blend was because I wanted to see what others felt about a good dino versus a syn blend of another brand. I have heard good things about Durablend and wanted to give Castrol the benefit of the doubt. Thank you all.

Oaky, then let me ask this-if I want a good 10w40 oil that can be purchased on the shelf at a store, then what would be my best bet? It can be conventional or synthetic and I live in Arizona for the record.

Just got back from Wal-Mart and was looking at the different options and am thinking about going with Pennzoil High Mileage 10w40. It looks pretty good and a decent price.

How about Valvoline Maxlife 10W-40? It's Valvoline, highmileage, and Syn blend! or if you want to go on economy, then try Troparctic 10W-40 it's also a blend and usually $1.68 qt at Walmart.

Okay, you're going to have to translate that last post because it does not compute.

Valvoline I don't think makes a bad product. Synpower is one example of an excellent Synthetic grp III /IV.

I would pick Valvoline 10w-40 Durablend it's a great oil. There is an old test that doesn't mean which oil is best for your car but it's good reading.

It's the Timken test and most of us have read it.

Valvoline has been tested in cars engines up into 200K range. Great oil.

Adding you were clear which one you wanted to choose in your post.

Between the two Valvoline Durablend 10w-40.

Hi Merkava, my post was meant that Maxlife is a syn blend or syn full and I am going back to conventional oil due to leaks. These cars always had conventional before I got them and think it would be better to use conventional from now on.

So you're saying you don't trust the Maxlife for your oil seepage because it contains a synthetic component? Say it ain't so!
