Yeah, I know, any SM rated oil will perform well for 3-4K OCI.
So which one of these would you think has an edge? I've been running Mobil 5000, but my friend likes Mobil 5000 as well because he thinks you the the benefit of the synthetic without paying the premium for it, which might be true, but Castrol is such a well-known brand and trusted by many. So, should we keep using new Mobil conventional or same ole same ole Castrol GTX?

Word on the street is that the GTX is using a top notch additive package.

It's still happening... With that said... Castrol GTX or Mobil 5000?

Mobil Clean 5000 is currently the cheaper... Price aside, which one you going to use Dave1251?

JK. Mannix, a BITOG member claims GTX is using a advanced SM add pack. IMHO, it doesn't matter what SM oil you run bc most of them are using the sam add pack made by LZ or one of the other major suppliers. This is why all oils do the job.

Do some searching in the used oil analysis section on the oils you want to try. Lots of info there.

I just did a run of Mobil 5000 it seemed to do a good job. When I was looking for oil for my next oil change. I wanted to try the latest Castrol formula but after looking over the prices at my local store I changed my mind. Mobil 5000 $2.09, Castrol GTX $2.79, and Mobil 7500 $3.29. For another $.50 a qt I ended up getting Mobil 7500.

I don't think you would have a problem with any name brand modern GF-4 oil given reasonable OCI.

Im surprised most here don't like mobil clean 5000. everyone here talks about long OCI- and how there should be a revolution- in which every one gives up 3k oil changes because it's a way for the big oil companies to make money etc. And yet here- mobil promises you 5k miles of excellent use- out of a dino. It should be the BITOGers preferred oil if you look at it from a certain stand point.

KieferS,
I totally agree.. It's like, you are almost shunned on this board if you prefer a short OCI as I do, but yet, like you mentiond, Mobil makes a guarantee of 5000 on their dino, yet it's noses in the air and not even an ounce of interest in the stuff.
