Well I just went 9,200 miles with Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w20 and a Fram 15k filter in my 2003 Crown Vic P71. I believe I had to add 4 quarts extra throughout the whole time to keep it full. I was thinking about going with the Quaker State Ultimate Durability again but the Magnetic caught my eye so I decided to try it out. I used to run Castrol GTX in my old 93 Ranger 4.0 back in the day and the truck seemed to like it most. One interesting thing is that the 5w20 is full synthetic but all the other weights are syn blend. I'm going to do some homework on this oil but was wondering if anyone knows much about this oil. Is this a repackaged Castrol Syn blend? Thanks!

Castrol GTX Magnetic 5w20 is the cheapest everyday price of Full Synthetic at Walmart, about $18.xx 5-qt jug is hard to beat.
Magnatec people..not magnetic.
Magnatec is an excellent oil. Mostly synblend, but sometimes it's a full synthetic. The 5W-20 (SN, GF-5) in North America is full synthetic, as is the 5w30 (SN, A3/B4) in Australia.
I just checked the Castrol USA web site.
Both Magnatec 0W20 and 5W20 are full synthetics, while the 5W30 and 10W30 are semi-synthetics (in the USA).
(The 5W30 A3/B4 is the only full synthetic Magnatec in Australia though).

GTX Magnatec, all viscosity, is quickly moving up the pecking order here. Nice price, seemingly excellent technology and fantastic EcoBoost UOA all signal good things.

...and to be clear, that UOA CT8 references above, was for a twin-turbo EcpBoost using the 5w30 "blend" version.

I plan on doing a VOA and UOA on the Magnatec 5W-20 that's currently in my 2016 Ford Fiesta 1.6L Ecoboost.
So many different varieties out there anymore it's hard to choose. You got conventional oils that cost the same as lower end synthetics and companies sell 3 to 4 different grades of synthetics not counting the semi-syns. I wonder how Magatec will hold up against Edge...
