Castrol GTX Magnatec

Are there Castrol GTX Magnatec 5w-40 over there?The bottle only say it meets SM.Can it meets MB229.3 and VW502,BMW LL-098?Thanks.

Was 5W40 initially changed to 10W40 a long time ago here. Has Ester content. Could be better than I thought but definitely not for Auto-Rx use!

Just so you are aware, asked Castrol what the difference was for GTX, GTX Startup (GTX Magnatec), and Syntec Blend. The consider startup a conventional with some of the properties of the blend. Not even a tru blend. Here they are the same price so that means just go over to Syntec blend if this is your choice.

I think Castrol is giving you a crock. GTX Startup is a true syn blend. They just choose not to market it that way and to downplay the synthetic content because it would cut into the Syntec Blend line. In fact, if GTX Startup is actually the same formula as the GTX Magnatec sold in Europe and the Pacific Rim, it's probably a better all around oil than Syntec Blend.

The price point is the tell-tale sign. At retailers around here GTX Startup is either the same price or just slightly higher than Syntec Blend.
