My buddy isn't 100% sure what oil was in his truck, but since he uses a local Castrol quick-lube I'm going to assume it's their base GTX product.

Replaced the mystery product with Amsoil Signature 5w30 and is going to try running for a full calendar year.

Looks pretty good to me. Not sure why they highlighted Iron. It isn't THAT much above average.

I pressed him a bit more and he said all he knows is that it was a full synthetic. That rules out GTX.

No, it's Mobil Super Synthetic. Mobil 1 has higher levels of Ca and Mg additives.

There is a VOA of Mobil Super Synthetic in the VOA forum.

Mobil Super Synthetic doesn't use Mg in the detergent...go look at the VOA!

This is Mobil 1, or it could be new SN/GF-5 Castrol Syntec.

Blackstone say try 8500 miles ??? If I were the owner of that 05 4Runner, I will not go past 6k even with the synthetic oil.. Toyota recommend 5,000 OCI ( assuming 50% highway, 50% city )..

Came on. Motor oil cost $10-$14 for 5.1qt.. I personally will not run 8k oci.. especially on the older models.
