You may find the same things that I found when using Castrol IMV itself. I noticed in 3 vehicles that the shifts felt different. Not bad shifts mind you, just different!...altered maybe?

Firmer in one vehicle
Softer in another
Shift later in another still

None of the shifts are bad shifts, just different than the OE ATF.

+1, I noticed firmer shifts in one & in another it did not fare well with the DBW.

i just came back from a good drive and I can finally feel it shift. It used to shift each gear and I couldnt even feel it and it sorta bothered me.. ** I figured that must of put more stress on clutch plates... However I figured thats how its suppose to be...

Now I can feel a nice shift between gears.... and its firm and no bang or anything.

B4 is shifted smooth like butter.... It almost feels like a GM car... Like our Trial blazer... Nice smooth shift, not to smooth and no bang.

So far I have noticed improvments that I like. Not sure if its going to benifit the transmission.... Perhaps the synthetic is making the transmission operate cooler since most synthetics take the heat better then non syn oils / ATFs.

Ill see what you all have to say about whats is better.

1, a trans that shifts so smooth that you can even feel it.

2, a trans that shifts and you can feel it shift but its firm and no bang or shudder.

** Perhaps the smoother shift put wear on the clutch plates **... I dunno, Im not really a expert on this..

Hope to read some feed back.

Thanks in advanced if feedback given.

Factory smooth shifts(like butter) isn't bad for the transmission. It's waaaaaaay too smooth before grabbing the next gear that could be tragic for a transmission.

Extra(noticably) firmer due to a change in brand of ATF isn't going to harm a transmission either. It's just the charactor of the ATF and it's FM's I guess!

Although, uncharactoristicly firm(BANG) shift is also not good.

Right now, you have 3 quarts of Castrol in there and, what, 6 or 7 quarts of DW-1? As you get more Castrol in the transmission, or as your fluid ratio starts to favor the Castrol, the Castrol fluid will have more influence over how it shifts. It feels firm to you now and "just right"; it may feel too firm with 3 more quarts of Castrol. I'm not saying that the Castrol fluid is or isn't the right fluid for you, just that the transmission's behavior will continue to change as you introduce more Castrol into the fluid mix.

Some say that they can't feel the difference, regardless of the fluid used. And maybe they can't. But I sure can, and it looks like you can as well. That's the blessing and the curse of these transmissions: you can absolutely "tune" the shift feel with different fluids. That's a blessing in that you actually have the ability to firm it up if you like, but it's also a curse to someone like me, who is always on the hunt to find "perfection".
