I've never seen any evidence of the Castrol products being different between the USA and Canada. We tend to get the same labels (language issues aside) and marketing and viscosities as they do in the States, albeit sometimes a little delayed.
Also, one has to be cautious which bottle one is examining. The 0w-30, 0w-40, and 5w-40 have various European specifications, and you'll be able to compare them on the shelf, side by side, at Walmart Canada. The Castrol Canada site is clearly a bit behind what is actually available on the shelf here.
You will, on occasion, see different specifications, particularly where dexos1 is involved. Canada's Castrol products received the dexos1 certification earlier than elsewhere. Wakefield handles Castrol distribution and marketing in Canada, while it's different elsewhere. They sought out dexos1 licensing for Canada only very early on; eventually, it became more or less global licensing. If you check the GM dexos1 list, you'll still see some Castrol dexos1 examples that are Canada only, and distributed by Wakefield Canada.
Note to Doug Hillary: For your historical interest, Wakefield Canada still retains the logo colours and similar style to that used when Wakefield was part of the Castrol labeling many, many years ago.
