Castrol Edge vs Edge HM?

Okay. Picked up a bottle of Castrol EDGE High Mileage 5w30 today from Walmart. Saw the $10 rebate so I figured I would get one before its end. Noticed the regular Edge says 20k and the HM version says 15k. Any thoughts why? I change at 5k anyways but might go 6k to be dangerous. 99 Accord 215k 4cyl

I’d stick to your plan. They are both good oils. The HM version may clean some stuff out and stop a leak or 2, that should be the only differences

I see these mileage guarantees as more of a "look at how good our product is it can go XX,000 amount of miles and that's better than the competitor's product!"

For example IIRC Mobil 1 standard oils (not EP) have a 10,000 mile advertised guarantee. So many people may see Castrol advertising 15,000 mile or 20,000 mile guarantees on their standard products that are similar in price to Mobil 1 products and perceive that Castrol is offering something of higher quality and better value.

It's all marketing gimmicks, Purple is my favorite color so sometimes I want to buy Royal Purple because they come in cool looking purple containers and the product itself has purple dye in it to make it look cool when you pour it out. Dupes like me are fooled everyday!
