Finally got around to sending in my UOA to Blackstone for a UOA on my '96 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L. I ran the oil for 1 year and 4,339mi. I had the oil changed at a shop while it got a new oil pan gasket and rear main seal, then the next week they had to re-do the job with OEM parts as the Mahle seal leaked. They reused the oil, so perhaps that's the silicon?

I do seem to have a very very minor external head gasket leak on the passenger side, so that was one of my previous concerns.

It really seems to sheer down the oil though eh? Maybe I'll start running a 40 weight in it in the future.

Castrol HM used to be on the thick side for grade, I don't know if it is anymore or not. I used to run a lot of it in my Jeep. Your wear numbers look great, but I don't like the viscosity either. No idea if it was contaminated during the unusual drain and refill situation or not but it would be hard to make any serious conclusions as a result IMO.

Iron numbers especially are good for a 4.0, that's quite a bit less than many at 3k.

Possibly work related to the Si. At least the Pb has come down. Sodium is coming down. Double check air filter etc. Otherwise, re-test as you're most likely planning?

Haven’t decided yet if I’ll retest on the next OCI. It has a new air filter now.

GTX HM 30-weight is thicker, close to 12cst.
The Edge HM is actually very thin, it’s right at 9.6-9.9 cst, so it hasn’t actually sheared that much. Plus, with repair work, it most likely was turned on/shut off and idled a fair bit, so there is some fuel in there.

You’re absolutely right and I missed that it was Edge, not GTX HM.

Disregard my comments they pertain to my experience with GTX.
