Wow. And "Wow!" one more time. More than 3k Ca, 370 boron, TBN=10... Very impressive, thanks a lot. Just curious if xW20 and xW30 versions would have same additive pack.

Agree. If 10W30 has similar additive pack I will use it in my 2004 S2000. Currently I have Maxlife Full Synthetic 10W30 in it.

May be get 1 jug each to mix half-and-half. The car doesn't consume measurable amount of oil during OCI's of 5-6k miles, 2 jugs will be good for 2 OCI's.

Wow is right! Look at all that boron and calcium. I could run that stuff a whole year in my Jeep with that TBN too.

Thanks for having it tested!

Been eyeballing the 5w30 flavor ever since it showed up at my local Walmart on the shelves. With all the rebates going on for Mobil and Pennzoil lately, I just could not see myself buying it with all the discounted all for sale. This VOA has me thinking really hard now. It's impressive on paper.

Not that impressed by this. It's A3/B4 so you knew it would have a high TBN. The zinc is about 200ppm lower than Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 though.

+1.

Appears to have strong detergency but weak-ish anti-wear?

If Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 met ACEA A3/B4, I would have probably bought it instead.

I'm just disappointed (well, not really) that there is so little titanium in this Edge HM. I thought Edge HM was supposed to have a decent amount of it.

It has a splash of Ti, a decent shot of moly and loads of boron. I'd hardly call it weak on anti-wear.

All the A3/B4 oils in the US have 1000-1100 ppm (or near it) of zinc. Why they would short change this one makes no sense to me. ZDDP is still the king of antiwear additives.

Is this for a DI car? Because for that app, I could see choosing A3/B4 preferentially. But for non-DI, I like the Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 better w/it's A3/B3 rating.

Nope.

I was just looking for an High Mileage oil that is still somewhat close in performance to an LL-01 oil, and the LL-01 spec is baselined on ACEA A3/B4 spec.

A3/B4 has stricter wear and cleaning requirements compared to A3/B3.

Well, I believe the regular Edge has 7ppm of ti, so 14 is more. The most is found in Castrol EDGE Extended Performance, which is around 23 ppm. Keep it mind this is BP's own proprietary Ti additive and is not the same as what CP uses in the Kendal line.

Well, it certainly is beefier than many oils on cleaning, but it's a lot weaker on the anti-wear than some A3/B3 oils. Must be a lot of variability between brands. I guess this would be a good DI car choice, though.

Too much calcium for a DI engine, IMO. Supposedly this contributes to LSPI.

Comparison of Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w40 (tested in August of 2016 by member SubyRoo) against Castrol Edge HM 10w-40.

Granted, different labs were used, so it's not exactly apples to apples comparison...

I'm confused, the Mobil 1 10W-40 High Mileage DOES met A3/B3, doesn't it?

At least, that's what it looks like, according to Mobil 1's website.

It does. He hasn't said that it doesn't.
