I hope they do bring the 0w-40 to the U.S. market. It would be cool if they make it a full line of product across the grades.

Here's a pour point video:

Their own EDGE 5w-30 only has a pour point of -45C. Maybe that's the jar on the left.

The 8X claim is not on the bottles. It is on cardboard stands placed near store shelves. I guess that particular store hasn't rolled those stands out yet.

I snooped around, looking for display signs hiding behind the rack, but saw nothing.

Is Castrol claiming 8X better wear protection than M1 in the Sequence IVA test like Valvoline?

That is basically what the image in the first post is saying.

Just a another twig on the pyre.

I'm thinking that the Castrol people have probably run their OWN Seq 4A tests. (Somehow, I doubt Valvoline would be keen to share their info.)

Valvoline's tests were likely conducted sometime mid year. Castrol is late to the party, implying that their tests were conducted at a later date. This suggests that more recent M1 batches might also be failing the 4A test!

Will other oil manufacturers join the dogpile?
How long can XOM stonewall?
Has anyone found some shred of real data supplied by Castrol to support the 8X claim?

Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode of "As the Camshaft Grinds."

This is kinda fun!

Oops I missed that... in the image and first post... that shows how ignorant I am towards Castrol. Once Pennzoil and Amsoil comes out with their 12X and 16X better than M1... Mobil and API will need to come forward.

As for Mobil profits, they made the money on idiot oil speculators that pushed crude prices into the stratosphere. And we all suffered.
