Oil change on my car is coming up. Walmart no longer carries the Edge 10W40. I picked up three 5 quart jugs of Edge 0W40 for $5 a jug, plus 4 oil changes' worth of GTX Synblend 10W40. How different is the Edge 0W40 vs the Edge 10W40? Are they basically the same with the 0W being a lighter 40 weight? Is one a higher quality oil over the other?

FSM specs 10W30-20W50,and these cars also came with a sticker under the hood saying to use 10W30 up to 60F and 10W40 60F and warmer.

Nissan TSB even says to use 5W30 for all Nissan vehicles *except 300ZX*. So in my application, what's the outcome of the 10W40 vs the 0W40?

They're both similar at operating temp. But the 0w-40 doesn't thicken as much at colder starting temps.

Hard to tell, but based on the MFG specs that they meet, I'd say the 0w-40 is higher quality.

Castrol Edge 0W40 is too thin for your 300ZX in South Texas even in winter months.

The best solution for you is ship those water thin 0W40 to me and I promise that I will dispose it properly !

0w40 will be fine. The Nissan VR38DETT experiences even more stress than a VG-series engine, and the current GT-R calls for 0w40.
