Hi everyone, below is the link of a video that shows an off the shelf Castrol Edge FST 0W30 vs an original BMW oil 0w30

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_B2mjpGuFc&feature=related

My question to the oil experts is that how valid is the test and also how likely are engines t reach 400 degree Fahrenheit or 204 degree celcius on daily driving or on the track.

What does it say about the BMW oil since it does not leave any carbon deposits at the end of the test unlike the Castrol FST

Hope someone can chime in ...

TIA

I'm just going to comment on the two oils.
The BMW LL-01 FE 0w30 is an A5/B5 with a HTHSV of at least 3.0cP. There is no indication of whether the Castrol EDGE 0w30 is the A5/B5 version or the heavier A3/B4 oil. I suspect it is the later since the former is not BMW approved.
