Which one do you perfer for an N51 inline6?0W40 is API SP. Will see how it does considering drop in PAO base stock.
As for 0W30, absolutely, still has some stash.
Unless you track, 0W30.Which one do you perfer for an N51 inline6?
Is the 0W30 better than the 5W30/5W40 ?Unless you track, 0W30.
Definiately. Both 0W30 and 0W40 are Castrol's premier products.Is the 0W30 better than the 5W30/5W40 ?
Have not seen anything but 5W-30 and 5W-40 in almost 2 years.Commonly see the 5w-30 A3/B4 on the shelves but it would be nice to see these grades. Has anyone seen these at the physical store? I suppose one can always order like OP.
0W30 has been gone from AAP and AZ fir some 6-8yrs. 0W40 couple of years.Commonly see the 5w-30 A3/B4 on the shelves but it would be nice to see these grades. Has anyone seen these at the physical store? I suppose one can always order like OP.
Grades falling out of popularity I'd imagine (low sales). Mobil getting the shelving space for their 0w-40 & 0w-30.0W30 has been gone from AAP and AZ fir some 6-8yrs. 0W40 couple of years.
Only found 1 qt bottles 0w-30.Do you have a walmart link for the 0w30? I cant find it on their site, what was the price?
Do you work for Castrol?Definiately. Both 0W30 and 0W40 are Castrol's premier products.
5W30/40 are group III oils. They are good oils, but these are step up.
Would SN version of 0w40 be better?0W40 is API SP. Will see how it does considering drop in PAO base stock.

I’ve never seen them in person at walmart but I have at some of the autoparts stores. Usually the autoparts stores have old stock 2+ years old.Commonly see the 5w-30 A3/B4 on the shelves but it would be nice to see these grades. Has anyone seen these at the physical store? I suppose one can always order like OP.
Thanks, that is all I found too. I get the 0w30 from Amazon for $50 for 6 1 qt bottles.Grades falling out of popularity I'd imagine (low sales). Mobil getting the shelving space for their 0w-40 & 0w-30.

Not sure. SN was really stout. Will see how SP does.Would SN version of 0w40 be better?
It is more shear stable. SP 0W40 is around 25% PAO, 0W30 is 50%. 0W40 KV100 is 13.5 and HTHS is probably up to 3.7cP. 0W30 KV100 on paper is 12.1, but VOA is showing 11.6. HTHS is 3.54cP . That is very good HTHS for KV100. Noack is also lower, 8.1%.What quantitative reason would there be to use the 30-grade over the cheaper and easier to find 40-grade from Walmart? Same minimum HT/HS.
Question is, what’s the new new formula look like. Pour point up to -45 C. VI 197.It is more shear stable.
