My Ram Cummins is due for an oil change this weekend and the Dodge/Ram dealership pricing on the Rotella has gone through the roof, so I was trying to go with the Petro Canada oils but the local dealer is impossible to get a hold of, so I am going with this in the 10w40. $36 per jug and they have pallets of it in their warehouse. Rotella or any other brand of diesel oil has really jumped in the last month or so.

It is their trade name for their engine oils. No 1 is from the International Harvester days, kinda like Shell has Rotella etc... As a side note all of Case New Holland's oil is now made by Shell.
That is interesting info & I didn't know that. They play the name well though.

Does Canada get HDEO rebates seasonally? Maybe that's why retail went up.

I just picked up 12 gallons of Delvac ESP for $250 before $100 rebate.

I have not actually been following any oil rebates as I have been going to the dealer for 10 years. It was super easy, and for the longest time the price was reasonable.
My last oil change at the dealer was just under $250 and I supplied the filter.

Well, dealers have boat payments too.

Canada is the ripoff king of oils. I found it nearly impossible to find great deals. Rotella is always overpriced, even with sales. I tried years ago to do online rebates with no luck.

I'd run it. Cummins CES sn't exactly some sort of obscure, unicorn spec.

I remember years ago, I had called the local mobil distributor (covered quite a big area), looking for so.e 3309 ATF. Ended up arguing with the guy for some time before hanging up. He never heard of 3309, even though its on their website.

Where are you located?

Grande Prairie AB, but from Fort St. John BC

Case IH and New Holland are two different companies. NH is part of Agco. But nuts how they run that company. They’ll have multiple brands of tractors come off the same assembly line.

No.
Case New Holland.
<---- 12 years and counting as a CNH parts tech.
I think you are confusing Massey Ferguson as they are part of the Agco group.

I stand corrected. My mistake. I really thought case was alone and Fendt/Gleaner/NH were Agco. My bad but thanks.

What a job this was.
I am seriously looking at a filter relocation kit. Even with a filter plug, once you crack the filter loose, the oil falls down onto the crossmember and runs everywhere. Then trying to find the filter stud when you cannot see anything way up in there...how you would do this with a prefilled filter-ya I am that guy, no prefill.
How this made it past Ram engineering is beyond me. Whoever passed this should have to do oil changes for 6 months straight.
I went with the 10-40 as the pour point is -42 and if it is that cold I'm staying home with a pot of hot coffee. This is why I have personal days I can take at work.

The oil filter is indeed poorly placed. For years I would remove the intake ducting and go in from the top. If you leave the pan to drain for a while, go change the fuel filters or grease the cardan, when you return, the filter will siphon off a bit. You can do it without spilling a drop.

I once tried though the wheel well opening, used a big ziplock bag and still made a mess. You need some finesse to put the filter on. Hold it up with your one hand underneath and use the other to spin it on.

I recently picked up the filter plug and will try it out. I suspect it will still be lots of fun.
