filter looks great and i like the rubber bypass valve material on the china models.

Who sent you a Ford ? Take a longer shower and try to forget 😵‍💫

Hi Brendan, good looking filter. Do you have some photos of the bypass valve? I'd like to see the design. Never saw one in person.

just has a coil spring in a cage down the center of the filter that presses on a hard plasticy rubber stopper.

i took a shower in the “oil filter drain” system that the engineers at ford thought was a “better idea”. i hate anything with a blue oval on the front of it lol
I used to like you.🤣🤣 All kidding inside, nice cut and paste.. I bought some Valvoline 5W30 EP to put in my blue oval Edge, next time around I will probably go with the R&P for a couple oil changes. If I'm not mistaken, Napa Gold, is now being made by Premium Guard but obviously that's twice the money, as Carquest..

To bad you never got a reply. I wish we had more concrete ISO numbers. I believe the Microgard Select specifically referenced ISO like you’ve posted in other threads.
I still have not heard anything from the 3 inquiries I sent Premium Guard - 2 about efficiency details and one about how to read their date codes. At this point I doubt they will ever respond.

This is the best info on these filters IMO.

That's for the MicroGard Select only sold by O'Reilly, and as far as I know all MicroGard Selects are made in Vietnam, not China. The lower tier basic MicroGard filters are made in China I think. The China made STP XL sold at AutoZone efficiency statement, and also the Premium Gaurd efficiency statement on PG's website is much more nebulous than the MicroGard Select efficiency statement. That's what I was trying to get info from PG about, that they never responded to.

Do you think the Carquest Premium is the same as the Microgard Select? The C&P’s seem to point in that direction. I like how they reference ISO on the Microgard Select.

Advance Auto Parts website shows this, but no ISO 4548-12 or any other testing reference. All people can do is believe the statement until it could be proven not accurate. If true, that's very good efficiency. It could be the same media as the MicroGard Select, depending on how each has arrived at their efficiency claims. If one is based on the largest filter they make, and the other one isn't, then that could explain the two efficiency claims being not exactly the same. Not enough info to know for sure if they have the same media or not.
