carquest gear oil

hello all,

this is my first post - i tried to search for carquest brand products to no avail.

I recently submerged my diffs quite a bit while off roading in my 300k+ 1996 toyota landcruiser so I wanted to change the fluid and do a short interval change later...

I put in some Carquest Gl-5 in both diffs and in the transfer case -

my questions are - is there any known issue with Carquest brand Dino gear oil?

also, what kind of gear oil is recommended for a heavy, high mileage full time 4x4 such as the land cruiser.

Right now i have the mobil 5000 clean oil in, a mobil 1 filter.

valvoline maxlife ATF(any recommendations here too?)

and the Carquest stuff in diffs and xfer case...

You did your car a big favor by changing the diff lube after that severe service.
You can research the super duper lubes out there at your leisure - if something strikes you as better and you feel like it, you can. But no hurry.

I pulled up the following info from the Amsoil website, they usually have the specs right on. Looks like you probably need a gear oil with the LS additive in it for both front and rear differentials and either a quality 80W90 mineral oil or a quality 75W90 synthetic would work well.

Not sure who makes Carquest gear oils or if it has the LS additive in it.
