Customer at work bought a Caravan in 2011, claims he changed the oil religiously.

Filter has A50472 on it, only thing that may be the date code that is visible.

Can it be deciphered or is this not even it?

Would help to have/know the manufacturer. But strictly speculating said A50472 is the date code, Ill give it a go.

Feb 16 2015. Much less likely, Feb 16 2005.

It's a Fram.

Made February 16, 2015. Not 2005 because Wix made them back then.

A - Greenville, OH
047 - 47th day of the year (February 16)
5 - 2015

NOTE: In late 2015, Fram moved production of the CQ filters from Greenville, OH; to Albion, IL. The Albion-made filters have a different date code format; instead of a red code on the side, the new CQ's have it on the top of the can in yellow dots.

Thanks for that info

So, looks like I called it right using the Julian calender, which Fram Filtration happens to use for their date code.

Can't say if the oil has been changed "religiously", but said filter not that old so at least changed not that long ago.
