So, the co worker of mine got a high mileage 2017 Ford Expedition with like 79,440 miles on it from some used car place. Judging by the oil change sticker; this piece of garbage filter and “bulk 5w20”was in and on for 5k?? Hard to read the ancient oil change sticker too.

I put some M1 5w30 AP and a tough guard he supplied in and on. Another sad excuse of a Purolator filter. Made May 29, 2020 also.

So apparently they still haven't fixed the tearing media problem. Just kills me they make the Motorcraft filters. My brother works at Ford and told me they switched from Wix to Purolator for the factory installed filters.

Would that filter, still be filtering at all, despite the tear?
Wanted too use the red bratwurst filter, next change coming next month, for me.re t thinking things here.2 posts here, showing years in the red filter,4,600 miles, and this one, estimated 5000 miles.a good filter, dosn't year at all!
Project farm, did an air filter test. Fram didn't do well,at all.the hesr, was wix, then purolator pureone. CARquest is puro. It made me think, the team oil filters, prob don't filter as well as purolatorfilters. But,the downside, puros tearing.

Project Farm isn't running ISO efficiency tests on those air filters, so I wouldn't believe too much in any of those results. Just like oil filters, you would have to compare official ISO test results between filters.

And with air filters there's another twist, because the ISO test for air filters can be ran with either "fine" or "course" approved test dust. So when comparing air filters you need to see what dust was used, and sometimes the test won't say. If they don't say, then assume the course test dust was used.

Yes! I left a factory filter off a 21’ F-150 with 5.0 under my toolbox; I’ll bring it home and cut it open. Has 6,100 miles on it and it’s Puro made

Adam that filter looks like he's been running chocolate milk through it. Think there could be some water in that oil?
Dunno, I’d wager the Expedition having unknown history and maybe sat most last year and possibly used car place didn’t change filter
