car wash soap

Hi Guys: I;m about to run out of turtle was car wash soap which was the cheapest i found when i bought it. I was looking in Pep Boys today and found several that claim they have a wax in them along with soap. I believe one was Mcguires, Eagle one, etc.

Has anyone tried these soaps with wax? Is it worth buying or does it do just what cheap soap does? Any realistic suggestions would be appreciated..

What is the best car wash soap for the money?

Of the store brands, I like Mothers California Gold (think thats the name). It's mild.

When I went to PepBoys and purchased the 2005 Cool Calendars they had a coupon for the Rain X Wash and Wax and it worked fine. I don't have my truck at the moment but I think it was free with a coupon. Can't beat that price.

the mother's california gold is good, turtle wax express wash is good, and the meguiars (in my garage right now) is also good. the blue coral stuff ain't not too bad neither.

these are the only four of the umpteen that i've tried that i can name right now...

none of them really wax though. they certainly won't strip the wax from your car. the mother's worked really well on a lightly dirty car. the megs seems to take more soap than recommended to be really effective. for the dollar, the turtle wax express wash is the most consistent for me. it doesn't matter how dirty my car is, the same amount always works. it can be kind of streaky if you don't rinse it quick enough.

The products from the well-known car care mfr's usually make the best shampoos. The cheap stuff doesn't suds up well, is not too slippery, and usually requires you use a lot to get any decent cleaning action.

I like Meguiars NXT shampoo, Eagle One WET shampoo, and Mothers Calif Gold shampoo. I've used them all and they're all good choices. For stuff bought at an auto parts store, any will work just fine. A jug will run ya about $5.00-7.00.

Zymol "Clear Autobath" is probably the best soap I've ever used. The recommended concentration is very low and it does seem to separate the dirt from the surface very well. The only problem is that it is expensive and often hard to find(locally).

I prefer to use a low detergent soap in order to keep the wax beading, and just use some auto windshield washer fluid in warm water. I'll use bug & tar remover for tough spots.

I don't know why, but I get a rash on my hands whenever I touch Meg's Gold Glass or Soft Wash Gel. Really annoying, because I liked the finish and results they achieved

Currently using Mothers, with no problems.

ive used the Rain-X product many times, and now will use it many more because of the free calender promotion (by the end i should have at least 15 bottles of it that i got for free) its perfectly adequate stuff but i dont think the wax does anything really its just a gimic. usually i tend to go with whatever is cheapest or close to cheapest with either a reliable name, a promotion of some sort, or a good smell. ive used KIT carnuba car wash too, it claims to add wax which im sure it does not but i like it it foams real good and it smells like bannanas kinda

I use Dawn dishwashing stuff ONLY to strip down to bare paint.

The NXT car soapy stuff works well for me. Cuts through crud and the onboard emoliants emoliate the way an emoliant should. I like that.

I also use the Blue Coral stuff without the included wax. I use Liquid Glass sealant and it is important when using the stuff to not use other sealants/wax/polish.

As the udders uttered I have heard groovy stuff about the Meguiars Gold but it s not sold local to me thus I haven't had the honor of smearing it across the conveyance.

I usually buy whatever Costco has in the US or Imperial one-gallon bottles. They had Zymol once and I still have some but haven't seen it there in a while.

Here in the Northeast, Ocean State Job Lot has the Zymol wash in a medium-sized container (I have it at at home, I am at work right now so I can't look at the measurement) for $1.97 each right now!!!
