Car safes

I was wondering, does anyone here use a car safe to store their carry if they go to a place where they absolutely cannot carry, ie: federal buildings? My worker's titan has a massive center console compartment and he has a safe in there designed specifically for the Titan and bolted down. There's nothing like that for the cx5. I see these lock boxes to fit in small places but they're secured with just a cable that can easily be cut. It might stop a simple smash and grab but I'm unsure of how well these actually work. Luckily I leave nothing in my car of value and nothing with an address if that happens. It would be nice if I could carry on a drive to downtown but trust leaving it in the car if I have to go to a building that has metal detectors; I currently leave my carry at home if I have to make a trip like this.

The cx5 also does not have a lockable glove box, but assume those can be broken with a prybar easily.

Absolutely! Even the cheap ones are better than nothing at all IMO.

If money or space is an issue there are other options. A bike lock is cheap and flexible. You can unload the firearm and put the ammo/mags in the trunk or somewhere hidden then secure the gun to the drivers seat base by looping the cable through the trigger guard or barrel.

Leaving a gun in the vehicle completely unsecured is an opportunity to arm criminals. As the good guys we should be responsible for our actions and tools. And by “good guys” I don’t military or law enforcement. I mean a good person.

I might have to just go the lock box route and figure out a hidden hiding spot. The bike lock through the chamber is a good idea, I forgot that's what we used for boot.

Make sure you're not parking on federal property too.

Indeed. My main concern would be the gym, and when I have to drive downtown to a client's office that has metal detectors. Luckily I don't have to go to any fed buildings anymore.
