Driving pattern is just about exactly as JGmazda above stated. Only,it gets driven 4 miles to work..sits all day, then driven back home. that's it...

I wouldn't run a non-synthetic no matter what in any engine.

I used to be like you before I got here. My dad told me to never, ever, ever run Quaker State, "It'll sludge up your engine!"...Similiar to the Pennzoil Myth. Sure enough before I got here if you had offered me a Quaker State Full Synthetic 55 gallon drum...I would have told you where to stick it!...Alas, since joining this site I have re-educated myself...slowly...it took time...And yes I have ran Quaker State...as you will run dino...trust me on this one!...---- look at how good Yellow Bottle UOA's are showing...can't beat that with a stick or any high-dollar synthetic...I do however fill the GRP III synthetics are the finest thing your money can buy if one wants to do 5000 mile runs...I have never ran conventional past 3000...but I never say never...I am a BITOGER now...We test, We discuss, We learn, We Know!...

Well I can tell you I won't run a non-synthetic.

Sam- This type of driving is extremely hard on an engine. Just as soon as the engine is burning off water vapor and contaminants from the combustion process, it shuts down.

What can be done? Aside from more frequent oil changes, a long highway run when there is time will help. As for oil? Running a "thinner" oil as suggested on this site...
Changing OCI to a shorter interval also.

In your case, I probably wouldn't use a synthetic. Maybe going to a 5w-20? I'd say treat it like you want to get blood flowing in the morning.

you drive 3200 miles a year, even with 1 year oil changes this car would last 30 years which is only 96,000 miles. I doubt you'll keep the car that long. Change it once a year and sleep well.

In my driving condtions...does a synthetic help combat moisture and fuel contamination better than conventional?

Take the car on a 20 mile drive once a week to keep moisture in check. Change the oil once every 6 months with the conventional oil of your choice.
