I have decided to get a car cover for my Sienna. Stayed overnight in teh mountains and it didn't rain, but just the morning fog and dew fell down from the trees, putting a lot of brown spots on the roof.

Now I don't come up here very often; I'd use this maybe 2-3 weekends a year.

I am seeing a lot of car covers being advertised as "3 layer." Evidently one or more layer is waterproof. I would assume that the single layer I get would also be waterproof. Anyways, the ones on Ebay I'm looking at are $10 more than the single layer car covers.

For those who have used 3 layer covers---are they much better than the single layer covers? Even if they are better, given the fact that I'm not using this every day, just on an occasional weekend trip, makes me wonder if the extra cost is worth it.

For that sort of use in not sure it would matter.

For a car I used to keep parked in direct summer sun, I had a high end weather tech cover that was great.

The key is to ONLY put a cover on a freshly washed car. Otherwise dirt will mark the paint, negating any other benefit from the cover.

I disagree. I've read and heard the same thing but I had a Grand Am I used to cover every night when it was going to snow a lot and that thing doesn't have a scratch on it and that red paint glistens in the sun, especially after a wax job. Never washed it once before putting it on, in fact it was filthy and covered in salt and road grime 99% of the time it was covered.

After having sap fall on my car over the weekend, I now see the need for a 3 layer cover. I think it will be worth an extra 10 bucks to have two more layers of protection from all that gunk.
