Car battery

That's fine by me. The store having a metric is fair, as long as the battery at that threshold will actually start the car. The OE specified a battery for my vehicle with some margin for degradation, so that seems reasonable. However, CCA rating is at 0 F. If a battery can't meet 50% of a CCA rating at storefront testing temperatures, that's pretty bad.
It's not the store's metric, it's the battery distributor. (Was Exide at the time.)

The professional Midtronics tester had a little infrared port one pointed at the battery so it could take its temperature and compensate. Not fool proof but the best they had at the time. (2012)

TY guys good info GSCJR
I took it upon myself to call Magnacharge for you (they're local to me). I found out that they do not produce an EFB and therefore recommend an AGM. The person I spoke with, told me that a standard FLA battery may not be an adequate replacement for an EFB.

However, what strikes me is that their catalogue offers a FLA battery as an alternative to the AGM upgrade 🤷‍♂️ :

I think on your search it says QX50 which is an SUV, I have a Q50S which is a sedan.

For me, BJs, Walmart and Chevy dealer are my best choices. Got one at bjs for my Chevy malibu in 10/21. It just lasted to 2/26. It was a silver with a 2 year warranty so pretty solid. $105 back then. Not sure about now.

Just replaced it with a gold 42month ac delco from dealer. $105 after 20% off deal at gmparts. And I used my gmcard reward pts.

Bjs does not carry a battery for my gto so I got that at the dealer too for same price basically. I get my scion tc battery at Walmart

For the last 7+ years AC Delco batteries are made by Clarios, so same as Interstate and Walmart. (walmart west coast). So purchase based on price and warranty.

(walmart west coast)
Is this just west of the Rockies? What's the division for "west coast"?

I just bought a Costco battery. It was a little cheaper, but in hindsight probably should have gotten the Walmart one for $10-12 more for the non-prorated warranty.

Not sure...it seems to be truly west coast. I think those in the midwest still get East Penn from reports on this forum.

How do you check? I can look at my battery. Especially if it might help out. I’m not Midwest, but also not on the west coast.

You need to photograph the code imprinted on the battery, I think near the base. Someone has posted how to interpret the codes. I believe the East Penn will start with an "EP".

Most of the AGMs will have a country of origin sticker on the top. That is a clue, as anything other than USA means its not an East Penn.

I’ll take a look. I already installed so not sure if I can still get to the code. Could also look next time I’m at Costco.

The pictures I see online say made in Korea. Is that where Clarios is making them?
Some. Clarios makes AGM batteries in Germany, Korea, Mexico, China and India. Luck of the draw which you will get. Its random based on sizes and shipments...I've seen multiple countries on the same rack at Costco and Walmart.

I was looking at regular lead acid batteries though. I expect AGM batteries to be made wherever.

Most of the Clarios flooded batteries are made in Korea. I beleive people have seen markings from two different factories there.
A few in USA.

Why does it matter? Is Clarios believe to be better than East Penn, et al.?
He asked.
Maybe it does. I have purchased three of the Clarios AGMs made in Korea all working fine, as is my German made Clarios that is almost 7 years old. The only early failure batteries I have experienced in recent memory were two flooded East Penn (H8) and two Optima red top (AGM Group34R) batteries. All failed in less than two years. I have a Clarios flooded that is four years old, still going strong.
