Can't uninstall AVG after restore

So something funky happened to my laptop yesterday and I restored the registry to an earlier date (12-15-2012). At that date in time I had AVG antivirus but deleted it so I could try out Avast, I had been running Avast for the last 2 weeks. After the restore, it looks like AVG is on the computer again

Well after restoring the PC everything seems to work well except AVG. Can't run AVG, can't open it. Can't even uninstall it using the Windows 7 utility or even CCleaner. Not even in Safe Mode.

Any Ideas what's going on and how I might be able to straighten this mess out?

Did you use the tool for removing AVG? If you did it through add remove programs you won't get it out properly.

I would try downloading and installing AVG. You may be able to uninstall it after installing it.

I forgot about those removal tools. Used it and it worked like a charm. Thanks for you help!
