Can't open pdf files

I think I know.
A while back I set my computer for Selective Startup, and I bet I selected not to run Adobe.
But...I forgot how I did it, or how to undo it....

start - run - msconfig, startup tab

Got there, but didn't do anything.
Now I can't open word docs either.

Well, I sorta can.
But pdf files just say "This object has been blocked."
