Can't get grease gun back together

Am I the only moron that can't get their grease gun back together? It's a Plews LubriMatic that I've had for 20 or 25 years. It's probably been 10 years since I last changed a tube. I put the new tube in but can't get the pistol grip end to mate up with the tube. Does anyone sell a gun that's already loaded? I'll gladly trash this one. Getting the spring bunched up is the problem. Am I doing something wrong or is it this difficult for everyone?

Thanks. Feel free to tell me I'm a moron if it's actually easy. :)

I used to have problems like that. The solution for me was to buy an expensive one where I was motivated to read the instructions. 🫤
If there were instructions with mine they are long gone. No instructions on the box, which I do still have.

Thank you SaberOne. I see what I did wrong. I unscrewed the end where the handle is. Seeing the video it all starting to come back to me. I'll pull out the new tube of grease and get myself a new gun and start from there.

I don't know why I didn't think to check Youtube. There's a video for everything.

You should never have to remove that end. Just pull the plunger and lock in place. Remove the end with the pistol grip to insert the cartridge. Removing the wrong end shouldn't be a reason to replace the gun.
