Can't find washing soda in the Bay Area

I'll give pool boy supplies a shot today or tomorrow.
Yesterday I went to OSH, asked at the CS desk, and got nothing but blank stares. Four geezers (apologies to all superannuated members!) told me they'd never heard of washing soda.
"You got any washing soda?"
"You don't mean baking soda? What's it for?"
"Baking socks."
The conversation went downhill from there.
PS: Home Despot and Lowe's are already off my list.

All right, the saga, or rather the odysee, has come to an end today.
Over the past two weeks I have checked scores of stores and talked to legions of store managers. Out of maybe 25 people, only one knew what washing soda was, another one had an idea what it was, but nobody had it. At a few places (Albertson's, Andronico's, The Home Despot) they flat out lied and claimed washing soda had been discontinued and wasn't being "made" anymore. I was close to throwing a sack and shovel in the trunk, going for a drive to Nevada and doing some mining of my own.
Today, I stopped by at a local Chinese market for organic tit'n tat, and low and behold! I see Arm&Hammer washing soda. Score! I bought 4 boxes, which was half their supply. I got a questioning look from the cashier.
