I have looked and asked many a web site looking for the ATF for a Jaguar-Xtype. Some say mercon V. Others say Jaguar SYN ATF ONLY ! Heck, AMSOIL sayes it does not have a fluid for car on the web site. I know it is just about the same transmission as the Mazda 6, but I just can't seem to talk myself into it. ( That shows up fine on AMSOIL ) Can anybody help ? Oh great site.. Long time lurker, First time poster..

If you saw how I down shift at every stop, You might think about it also.. Not that this transmission is known for anything bad.. But trust me, I am not impressed with the level of repair service I have gotten from anybody and do not want Jaguar service laying hands on my car. ( Just have not found somebody I trust and I like doing my own work.. ) I have high standards.
Everything has a life span... Some like to push the end limits, but sealed for life is bunk.. Maybe if it sat in the driveway all the time, but I put plenty o-mustard on this cat's bottom.

If that’s the ZF transmission, also used in Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and some others, the ATF specified can be found at the ZF website:

It is probably the Esso LT 71141, which is sold through new car dealers, and by ZF through parts distributors. As far as I know ExxonMobil is not distributing this ATF through retail channels.

I also have been all over the roadfly forum.. I can't find anything on LT71141. I am thinking it might be for one of the other Jags models, not the X-TYPE with the Jatco transmission. Red-1, Idemitsu is what somebody else said on that forum. Well that and Merc V. This is the only 5speed 4x4 auto transmission in the lineup.

I checked the PDS for Pennzoil Multi-Vehicle ATF and Jaguar is INDEED covered. I also checked the Roadfly forum and people have said that the factory fluid is Esso LT71141 ATF.
Pennzoil Tech Services confirmed compatibility with Esso LT71141 ATF with their Multi-Vehicle Fluid the last time I called them several weeks ago.
But do note, that the Esso fluid is a yellowish color compared to the Pennzoil's Reddish color.
Thus, it may be wise to wait until you're out of warranty to switch!
