Still looking for ATF for my jag x-type. Sure is looking like I will be going to the dealership for "Jaguar" fluid, and as much as it pains me, having them do the flush as I do not have anyway to check the trans temp. I just can't seem to get hard facts about this fluid. Esso, Shell, Merc V. Heck, I have asked a few web based transmission shops and they have said Jag fluid only. AMSOIL does not list a fluid.
Has anybody done a atf flush on the jag x-type with the Jatco ?

I am not very familiar with the X -types, but as best I recall the Jatco transmission was only used in the early models ans it was very troublesome.

I would not let anyone but the dealer touch it.

unDummy,

Could you please expand on your choice ?
Do you own or drive a Jag X-Type that you have used these fluids on ? I am looking for user feed back. The reason I asked this quesiton again is that I was looking for somebody that drives this type of car and has changed the fluid and not had any issues.

Win . Yes the 02's had some issues but I have the 04 and I think that it is still used in the 06. I am going to call the dealer this week and see what they charge and try to find out if they just dain or flush.

Nope, sorry, I don't drive a Forduar ConJagtour.
I was a transmission rebuilder. Don't care for pathetic OEM eternal life fluids that do nothing but cause problems.
You are more likely to have problems caused by overheating or manufacturing defects.

Jatco boxes aren't too ATF picky. Stick with a blend or Full Synthetic multivehicle HFM-type ATF and pick a normal change interval.

None of the automakers have the balls to DEFINE what a lifetime is. Lifetime ATF is great. Too bad you'll rebuild that transmission several times during that ATF's 'lifetime'.

My sister has an '04 X - type, and I thought they had the Aisin-Warner 5 speed transmission. Maybe I have it backwards and the Aisins were the early model trouble transmissions.

Regardless of which transmission it is, I would not let anyone but the dealer touch it. I bought an '04 Xj8 for my wife with the ZF 6HP26 6 speed, and will bite the bullet and pay for a dealer fluid change at about 30K.

I haven't been able to find what fluid the 6HP26 uses, either.

Thanks guys. I am thinking about having the Jag dealer do it while it is still under 40K. If I can get out of the snow belt, I would love to step into the XJ8L. I just wish this thing had a dip stick, I would try any fluid that undummy listed in a minute.
