My last smart charger died after 14 years. It lost its ability to stop charging when full and was trying to repair batteries that were just fine.

I bought the Canadian Tire Eliminator 5 A ( max) charger. It also has a 1 A setting but both go through the smart charge format. It also has multiple settings such as AGM and deep cycle. Enjoy.

I have a version of this, mine has up to 7 A charging on the high side, I like the maintenance setting if you have an older battery it can clean it up , and the desulphating mode helps too. So far so good with mine, it should last a long time , the low charging mode is good to have , and frozen battery mode or AGM mode, lots of options

Does it have the cigarette lighter attachment? That’s one thing that a lot of these units don’t have but it’s an easier way to hook it up. My Corvette came with a battery tender (it was a $100 option from the factory) but eventually it will probably need replacing and I love that it has the cigarette lighter hookup because they put an accessory outlet in the trunk just for hooking it up (the battery is also located in the trunk but it’s buried under the carpet)

It’s been charging over night and is still blinking. I decided to shoot the photos on the “ off blink.”
The voltage is constant at 14.8 volts and the current is coming down, as would be expected with a Smart Charger. It’s now in the “Absorption” mode which is shown in the chart photo above in posting # 1.

Looks good, I've never had to charge a battery for that long, like overnight ? Most of my battery charge events are done within a couple hours max. That seems like a long period of time, but perhaps it is normal for that charger and battery.

I think it’s long because this battery has been sitting since Christmas and my last Smart charger was Kaput.

I only hook up the battery tender to my Corvette once a week because I have no outlet in the underground garage (I use a rechargeable power supply to provide the power to the tender). It only takes about two hours to fully charge the battery.

I have a Subaru BRZ in winter storage, I hook up the Motorcraft charger every couple weeks in battery tender mode. I take it off once fully charged, I don't leave it on all winter.

The tender that I have was made specifically to be kept on the car all winter long. If I had a regular outlet I would just leave it hooked up like that and never have to worry. It will never overcharge the battery.

By the way, this device is not a " Trickle Charger" per say. Instead it will re-start the charge sequence every time the battery charge falls below 12.8 V and recharge to 13.1 V and then continue to monitor the battery.

I have several of their simple series, under 1 amp, several 3 and a 6 amp. All work well, except the 6 on my diesels dual batteries. Most times it works.

I have two of the Eliminator 1.5 amps on my 2020 Ram 1500 and the 2021 Grand Cherokee. They work well.

I do like that it shows how many volts it’s currently kicking out. Looks like a nice charger. Price is right but apparently Canada is the only place to get one?

I’m thinking Canadian Tire made a deal with a Made in China supplier to label it “ Eliminator” but wouldn’t be surprised if the electronics are identical to some other brand names.
