Sorry, nothing that exciting. It's a clear bra on the whole front bumper and headlights. I opted to not go with blue tint on the headlights.

They did a great job, the pictures are actually very representative of what it looks like. Most people have to inspect it for a good 30 seconds before they can find the seams (which were done at the sharp angles of the bumper so they are hardly noticeable.

Go back and get the hood done!!!

You know I am really contemplating that idea. The guy at the shop suggested at least half way up the hood, but I had seen it on another car and the seam was very unsightly (the installer was really cool about it, he wasn't trying to upsell just making an honest recommendation.) However, the paint color really doesn't show the clear bra at all. I think because it is a metallic paint still gleans through it very well.

What's the going rate to get something like this done for the front of a car?

First off I live in LA, so I bet it would be cheaper where you live.

$345 for the bumper, $100 for the lights (total - so $50 a piece).

Warranted for 5 years parts and labor. It wasn't the cheapest place but I learned along time ago with window tint, it's 1% material and 99% art. Everyone uses the same stuff but there is a huge variation in quality of installation and technique. A good shop will charge more but has enough margin to take time and do it right. I found this place by calling my trusted local tint place that has been around for a long time and they gave me the recommendation of this place 25 miles away. Clean shop, professional installers, and I don't think I will run into any problems if they need to redo anything later on (rock tear, peeling, etc.).

95% of my rock chips on my 05 Corolla (and there are hundreds)

are on the area you did not get done...

The Hood. About 1/2 way up...

My head lights are fine after 65k miles. The bumper is fine (plastic so the chips are really just slight dents) but the

Hood is BAD.

Wouldn't the hood be more important to cover since it is metal? How much did it run you?

Hi Bill,

I don't know if you have seen to many Odysseys but the hood is pretty high up. I am not saying that it's not going to get hit, but the start of the hood is almost waist high. I have a neighbor with the same van but older and 99% of his chips are in the front air dam I had covered. That was the reasoning for it, but as I said I might go back and get the hood done.

Also, I don't know if it is cheap paint but the rocks crack and peel the paint on the plastic. And that plastic is black underneath. I know this because I already have a nice black pock mark on the bumper.

Like always, this forum ends up costing my money! (but the comments are always appreciated)

Hey Lou and Bill, I am with Bill on this one. My 99 Prizm has a number of chings on the hood.... the bumper and lights are fine.
Sooo...I ordered a ventshade bug (stone) deflector for $45 at AA for the Matrix. took 3 days to get. Installed in 15 minutes.

Cheap insurance and it actually looks pretty cool IMO

i should seriously invest in a clear bra. my headlights were shot from scratches and rock chips on my 04 Civic after two years. Had to pick up another OEM set
