Can you flat tow a Tesla?

how many 'fast chargers' R there. Is the infastructure up enuff? U live ina city (300K +) may B.
These guys werent near a city that size (like the rest of the country, save the Left / Right Coast BIG cities).

At least with a gas car you can carry an extra gallon or 5, tell me how do you do the same with your Tesla?
Its just not smart not carrying some extra gas on those long and lonely desert roads in that state. And sorry you can't carry nothing extra for your tesla, except maybe a small GAS powered generator, that will take probably 20 hours to charge it enough to drive 20 miles.

It's coming.

Lately, some Tesla Chargers have very long lines. I suspect he did not feel like waiting hours.

Drove 1400 miles this past weekend. Saw 2 dead Tesla’s. One created an epic traffic jam. like I said, some charging stations were quite full on the July 4th weekend and people don’t want to wait.

People run out of juice in gas engines all the time. Only a matter of time before tow trucks carry quick chargers.
They do in Quebec at least where it has high adoption rate. The quick charger fits in trunk of car and get you enough charge to make it to a real charging station. Sometimes they just get a regular tow to charger.

I asked this of a coworker who lives in QC where adoption is very high of electric vehicles due to excess (HydroQuebec) power supply they have.

Einstein said once something along these lines: “only two things are infinite: human stupidity and universe, and I am not so sure about universe.”
It's not clear that he really said it. And he might have already known that the universe wasn't infinite. As of now, we would say that the observable universe is about 93 billion light years in diameter and the unobservable universe might be anywhere from 250-1000 times that size. But we don't have any more accurate measurements to say beyond that. In theory it could be infinite beyond that as we don't know how big the universe became during cosmic inflation, some claim it could still be going on in some other part of the universe.

How long is a piece of string?
So now you're getting into string theory?

Wouldn't a generator make more sense?
Well if you don't want to crazy with that 150kw generator, then a 9.5kw generator from Harbor Freight is about $2400 and if you could run it at max, they say a Model 3 is about .34kw per mile of range so if you fire up that generator, you'll get about 28 miles after an hour. It's dangerous to just be sitting broken down by the side of the road, lots of drunk drivers hit parked cars all the time. Probably better off to just tow it away to a safer location.

Well, thanx for correcting me on size of universe.

It's pretty big huh? There's an estimated 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe and each one has between 100-400 billion stars. So if the unobservable is 1000 times bigger that makes for 2 sextillion galaxies.

Makes the odds of winning Mega Millions at one in 302.5 million seem pretty low.

We are but a spec of stardust. Why do we treat each other as we do? Our arguments are meaningless in the big scheme of things.
Just my 2 cents...

I am not aure that was point of my post :)

I know nothing about these cars so bear with me. We ran across a family with a dead battery last night.

They were between Yucca valley,Ca and Lucerne valley,Ca on hwy 247 which is a 2 lane with no services for many miles also cell service is splotchy at best.

The guy asked how far it was to Lucerne valley. Since I had no cell service I had to guess about 25 miles.

I thought about trying to flat tow them there but didn't have a strap with us plus the thought of some dummy not knowing when to brake and smash it into us didn't appeal to me.

I offered them a ride 1 way but they declined. They said they had snacks and water and would wait for a chp to call them a tow.

This morning I looked online and I didn't see a charger in Lucerne valley. Nearest is another 20+ miles to Apple valley. But they said they were heading towards Bakersfield and we're going through Barstow which is another 40 or so miles north of Lucerne valley.

What a mess! Anyway can a Tesla be flat towed if needed without damaging anything?

I remember from my time in the USA that distances are expressed in hours, so wouldnt that make it 9 hours (walking)?

If you tow them and he has the car in drive, i figure it would regen charge same as going downhill. He needs to get it out of park and into neutral anyway, which is a headache with a flat battery and a computer that says "no". Anyway, if that car recharges, your car is working as a generator and you have to pay the gas you put into his battery.
He said he could not use the charger in yucca valley. I don't know if it was busted or too many in line etc.

So if the last gas station is out of gas, you just go ahead? I'd turn back to a previous station if that was an option, or wait until services are resumed (motel).

Guess there were reasons why the "Engineers" in Prometheus wanted to go back to Earth and destroy what they started.

With a Tesla one carries the Mobile Connector all cars were shipped with until recent months.

Then any 120V outlet will get the job done. Slowly, but it will get the job done. 3-5 miles per hour at 12A. Not the 1 mile your imagination. The best option is to find an RV park with a 50A outlet.
