Can this be used with a two piston caliper?

Hi

Can this brake caliper compression tool be used with a two piston caliper, application is a front caliper?

I understand that the pistons need to be pushed in together at the same time so one doesn't pop out. I was planning to use one of th eold brake pads and place it over the pistons and use the above tool to press the pistons simultaneously.

Is this a good approach or is there a better way?

Yes, if it doesn't fully cover both pistons, just put the old brake pad in there and push against that. That's what I do.

Kind of like this: (Just imagine two pistons instead of one)

Yes. I have a similar tool and just use the old brake pad as pictured above on any dual piston brake setups.

I've only ever used a C clamp with the old pad or a piece of wood and a rag to not damage the back side.

I still do this for larger vehicles (like Trucks.) That little tool isn't beefy enough for those.

It will work fine; always press against the old pad and go slow. Remove reservoir cap and suck out a little fluid if necessary.

Depends on the caliper. Won’t work on these.

I sure like the look of their "heavy duty" unit over the standard. I might pony up for that -- it's still just $16
