New Calculations by University of Sussex Astronomers

Alternate article title: "CAUTION: Scientists with a calculator!"

This is pure B-S. In the last 15 years, we were told that the sun would burn out some 4 billion years from now. Now scientists are theorizing that, in double that time, we'll be swallowed by Apollos & Helios.

Which is it? Will earth freeze or burn up?

More evidence why scientists should never predict the future, either with next year's hurricane forecast nor looking forward a few billion years.

Folly. Pure Folly.

"and the atmosphere will become laden with water vapour, which (like carbon dioxide) is a very effective greenhouse gas."

Now they're gonna start talking water sequestration...

Dunno which school you went to, but we were always taught that before the sun snuffs out, it goes red, and swallows those planets closest to it before shrinking again.

Something that's readily observable, rather than hypothesis.

(visions of Hudson in Aliens as the squad descended into the steaming reactor facility when some said that it was hot as "H" in here)

Yeah, man, but it's a dry heat!

You got the lat/long for that place? I'll have to program it into my car's GPS as one of those no-go zones. . .

Apparently Not

I was just going to say, "oh heck no..." but you beat me to the punch. Punch mixed in that awesome gas-powered blender. Oddly enough, last Friday I was waiting for my haircut, and they had a Northern Tool catalog in the shop. I saw that drink mixer and thought, "I have to have one." My next thought was, "I wonder what oil it requires..."
