I have an HP desktop and a Toshiba laptop, both updated to Windows 10 and would like to just use Defender as my primary AV. Both computers have Defender enabled, MBAM Premium and MBAE Premium, also running the free version of CryptoPrevent. Defender appears to be working OK but I want to set exclusions in it for my MBAM program.

The problem is all of the settings for extensions in Defender are all grayed out and I can not use them at all. I thought it was a real time conflict so I removed MBAM Premium and the exclusions problem still exists. I have not tried removing MBAE or CryptoPrevent. Google and Bing searching did not turn up any solutions. I appreciate any help or suggestions on this.

Thanks,

Jimmy

I looked at it and I suggest going into the preferences ( after you ran a scan to make sure your computer is clean)
and change your protection level one up and I think you will get a window that tells you that everything now will
be whitelisted and that should include new software. If you upped the level too high just go back
and hit basic or default and you should be good. Or get your computer where you want it and hit Reset in CP pref
and that should ask you again if your computer is clean and if you want to whitelist everything.
I know its not that easy to configure as I just looked at it now.

Well I feel stupid now. You can not change Defender's settings or make any exclusions when signed in on a standard user account. I switched to my admin account and was able to very easily set exclusions for both MBAM and MBAE, also excluded Itunes too. Then I went into MBAM and excluded Defender there. I wasted a lot of time yesterday trying to figure this out.
