"In some of the variable valve timing (VVT) engines and V-type blocks, oil clearance is critical to get the proper operation of the VVT." -enginebuildermag. To get the correct oil clearance, USE ONLY a premium grade 0W-20 detergent oil (in all weather conditions) with an API seal on the container, as written in a typical owner's manual. More viscous oils may not lubricate the valve train properly.

😞

Cold oil is far more "viscous" than the difference between 20 and 40 weight oil at operating temperature. Every VVT system I know of runs a feedback loop with a PWM solenoid driver to control the amount of oil controlling the timing. It adjusts the amount until the desired amount of valve variance is achieved.

Is this another quote or your opinion?
