Can fumes of used oil make you dizzy?

Heck yeah, I was changing the crappy burn't WS ATF from my wife's Rav 4 and was overcome by it in my enclosed 6 car garage. I had to get out and open the doors it was so bad. I could not believe draining ATF into a large beaker could make you sick like that. Unless you smelled it, you would not believe it. 11 on a 10 scale. I lasted about 4-5 mins till I had to get out if I remember right.
When I worked for Mazda's reman operation, occasionally the old M5 (red) ATF drained from an older transmission would have a distinct strong, odd, garbage-type smell that could gag you. It definitely gagged me. This was either some combination of a contaminant (coolant?) and the ATF, or maybe the ATF somehow went stale as fuel does. M5 drained from most other transmissions would not have that odor and did not cause me to have a reaction.

Go,to your nearest VA hospital… they will do a urine analysis (cheapest test) and get you an appointment in about 12 months. 😡

Then they'll send a postcard which will arrive THE DAY BEFORE said appointment, letting you know the appointment was cancelled because the person you were waiting to see took a vacation. But you're welcome to make another appointment for some time well in the future, which will also likely be cancelled at the last minute...

But I digress about the pathetically incompetent VA.

Hopefully you have another option to get checked out right away.

Ole yellerteef from WA keeps telling us she fixit.

Used engine oil is classed as carcinogenic for skin contact rather than inhalation but I still don't think I'd want to breath the fumes for too long.

Get rid of the oil ASAP, and see if it happens again. If it does, go see a doctor. You really shouldn't have that much used motor oil layin around not sealed. Motor oil gets diluted with all sorts of things, ( gasoline, hydrocarbons, etc. ) Get rid of it. Not healthy for you, and can be a fire hazard.

Used motor oil labeled as a carcinogen. Reason enough to not have it around in bulk open pails.
