Can anyone help me calculate how many miles I'll drive in a year if I attend a 4-year university for two years?

You're never done with math. There are some assumptions built into that 21k a year. You have to look at the details of the calculation. It's basically wrong, you basically have the correct number at 7k. Where do you think the other 14k comes from? They're making some other assumptions that don't come into play in your case. Or you've put in the numbers incorrectly. Always check your work. This calculation is trivial and is left as an exercise for the student.
You're right. You're always using math.

Idk how they got 21k miles. But, per my community college, there are 16 weeks in one semester. On average there are 15-16 weeks in one college semester.

I think my math is right.

Your math appears correct to me, but I haven't taken a math class since my senior year of highschool 8 years ago, but I did get a 5 on the AP Calc test so I think I should still know basic math after all this time.

I wouldn’t necessarily buy a beater...let’s say you end up putting 20,000 on the car in two years. That’s still 10,000 less than the average person would have driven in the same amount of time (average mileage driven a year in the US is around 15k).

So, you’re not going to beat on the car by doing 20,000 miles of driving in two years and you’re not going to hurt the resale value either. Heck, I bought a car last June and I’ve already put 16,000 miles on it (and that’s low for me because of the pandemic and I moved closer to work). Usually I put 26,000-30,000 miles a year on a car.

But if it’s cost you’re worried about? I get that. Especially with you heading to school. But you might save in the long run with something that is a little more reliable if it doesn’t cost too much more. And I like how you’re commuting to school instead of living there. Wish my daughter would do that...I spent close to 60,000 grand on her college the last two years (and that’s considered cheap nowadays).

"...if I attend a 4 year university for 2 years....how much faster do I have to drive?", should've been your question.

Seriously, as mentioned above, second vehicles to save wear 'n tear on another can benefit you financially only in extreme cases.

"If I give my car to my brother and buy a neglected rust bucket for myself, how long will it take 'til I realize how soft my brain is?"

Better hope you don’t have a one question final..and it turns out to be this!
All kidding aside, good luck with your studies. I was always too lazy and distracted to go to college. I did all right but I attended the school of hard knocks. I hope you find a livelihood and a car you’re comfortable with.

S 3-4 days of the week.

I won't be driving the car on the weekends and stuff so no extra mileage.

I calculated it this way. So, 55(miles driven to and from school)*4 (days attending class)=220 miles a week. 220*32=7,040 miles in 1 year of college.

Did I calculate this right?

I only want to know because if I’ll be driving close to 21k a year I might buy a beater to drive to college and let my younger brother drive my car to the community college here.
