I brought my car in to my mechanic because my 98 mustang gt has been sluggish. I was replacing the camshafts with high performance ones anyway and he called me to tell me im lucky im changing them cause theyre worn. What causes this? I had an oil analysis done in feb and it came out perfect! I have 99,500 miles.

Did you actually asked for the return of your original camshaft(s) back from your mech and view it yourself?
If not then I wouldn't take his word for it until I see it in front of me...

the car isnt done yet but yes he does have it and is going to show me. He is a very good friend of mine so he isnt going to rip me off. I was running QS advanced 5w30 when the analysis was done and recently was using Amsoil synthetic 5w30 with motorcraft oil filter.
which cams are you going with? im getting MMR stage 2 heads and VT stage 2 N/A cams for my setup im building.
another thing i just thought of is the complete lack of camshaft wear that he 4.6L motor exhibits. the only camshaft related problems are the cam journals getting seized on the heads which dont have bearings. there are also problems with the passenger side timing chain shooting all the oil up to the head and sucking the sump dry.
Should be picking up the car tonight or tomarrow. I will post pictures of the camshaft when i get it back so you guys can judge.
