Camry coolant

That is a very old chart. Zerex (Ashland/Valvoline) now makes a coolant for Toyota engines, it's called Zerex Asian Vehicle Coolant.

I've been confused in the past about people saying that Dex-cool is ok in Toyota engines. Dex-cool has caused problems in engines that were not specifically designed for it (and some engines that were) because it contains 2-EHA.

I have used Prestone All Makes/All Models (a dexclone) in a late model Corolla with no problems.
The 2-EHA in dexclones is a 'plasticizer' but shouldn't be a problem in 'dry intake' engines.

I'd likely be okay to use, but only after a complete flush.

Dan55, I believe that Zerex's web site is out of date because we have the same type of chart in our shop, but it list's Zerex Asian Mix for all the Asian applications after 1995 or 1996.

At last I found that can not use Dexcool in my camry due to present of 2-ethylhexanoic acid (2-EHA),I will stay with Toyota super long life coolant instead.

How accurate can that chart be for Asian, {Japanese in particular} vehicles? I drive an '02 Mazda Protege that came with Green coolant. Mazda recommends green long life coolant, or it's newer FL-22 coolant for my vehicle. According to that chart I'm supposed to use the orange Dex-cool. Color aside can that be right?

If I take my vehicle to a shop other than Mazda to do a coolant flush is that what they will end up giving me? Do people bring their own coolant to shops for a flush like they would for an oil change?

For as often as coolant is changed (rather infrequently these days), I wouldn't use any other than the OEM coolant, even purchased for a high price at a dealer. The difference of $10/gallon today is small over the course of 3-5 years and tens of thousands of miles.

If I owned an older car that truly took the "old green" coolant, I'd find some coolant that's specifically the "old green" coolant, likely a house label like Advance or Peak. I don't think Prestone sells the old formula anymore.
