All I can say is wow, there are thousands of cameras on that map. I'm clicked one, but it's pitch black, so I can't see anything good at this time.

People not prepared for the snow on the Grapevine?
Happens quite a bit - but unlike the 50/80 heading into Nevada people aren’t in the mode to carry chains. The Grapevine still has huge barrels of water for overheating cars last time I went through it.

Last year coming home South 5/Grapevine started snowing. F550 towing Durango.

Fixed that for you.

As a snowboarder, that goes to Mammoth....I'm used to carrying chains in the winter... even though, I don't need to install them until R3, as the roads going to Big Bear was an R2

I guess you didn't hear what happened Mt. Baldy. The skiers that went there were not prepared for the snow conditions, so they didn't carry chains in their vehicles.

Dude, I noticed CHP in the Tahoe/Truckee/Placerville region will wave anything past chain control that’s a Subaru or an SUV only for the driver to find themselves in deep ish. Me and a friend had the misfortune of following a X5 M before and after chain control. It had wide summer tires(probably the OEM Bridgestone or Pirelli), and dealer frames from BMW San Francisco. The X5 had to pull over and summon a tow, smart thinking on their part, we saw the X start to go sideways. Yes, it had XDrive but still. I’ve seen new Range Rovers and Tacomas in the ditch after Donner Summit.

Once you get into town, it’s whole different story as the locals drive like nothing happened in the snow. I’ve seen a Prius on winter meats nonchalantly pass me in South Lake Tahoe. A local who happened to be a Uber driver also told me stories of having to pick up people who got into wrecks.

The Chain controls heading towards big bear asked me if I had AWD or 4WD and then waved me through. No issues with the Nokian WR G4 SUV that day on slush, snow and ice.

When I was at Tahoe a few weeks ago, I saw a G-wagon on summer tires... I wished it was snowing, because I would have laughed my ass off at them, when they had no traction.

I did see a lifted JGC in the ditch on Monday also
