Calling VW owners

Have any of you guys ever used a Napa Gold #1191 oil filter? This is the Napa version of the "oversized" VW 1.8T filter #068115561B.

I had sworn off expensive filters, but I have an affinity for oversized filters, so I decided to try this one. It was $9+change with tax, FWIW.

If any of you have tried this filter on your VW, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

If you really want to "super size" your 1.8T's filter, why not go with the Big Kahuna - the NAPA Gold 1333?

wavinwayne- no offence, but the OE filter(068115561B) is only $8.50 msrp. If your local dub dealer is charging more than that, they're marking it up.

You can often catch the Purolator L40316, aka as the Kahuna, at Pep Boys for 2 for 5 bucks with newspaper coupon. Reg price is about 7 bucks, IIRC. It is a rebranded Mann or Mahle,I believe, same size as the Napa 1333.

My first stop was to look for the "Mannolator", but my local AAP does not stock that filter. No PepBoys in my town, either.

I won't buy anything except specialty parts from the VW dealer. I will go out of my way to avoid the VW dealer. Come to think of it, I would have to go waaaaaay out of my way, just to GET TO the VW dealer. No thanks.

I feel your pain. I live 45 miles from the nearest VW dealer and they suck! I used to buy Wix filters from the local auto parts store for my 2.0 New Beetle but recently bought a case of them from Fleet Filter.

If the VW oil filter for your 2.0L is #06A115561B, then YES this filter will work perfectly.
